Half-staff
President Obama has ordered flags flown at half-staff until sunset Dec. 7.

President Obama has ordered flags flown at half-staff to honor the victims of the Dec. 2 mass shooting in San Bernardino, CA.

Flags should be flown at half-staff until Monday, Dec. 7, at sunset. Flags also should be flown at half-staff Dec. 7 to mark National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

To fly the flag at half-staff, hoist the flag to the peak for an instant and then lower it to the half-staff position. The flag should be raised to the peak again before it’s lowered for the day.

For additional information, refer to the Postal Service’s guidelines on U.S. flag display and maintenance.
