Employees ring Nasdaq bell for Operation Santa

A Times Square video billboard shows the USPS employees who gathered to ring Nasdaq’s closing bell Dec. 22.

The Postal Service is celebrating Operation Santa — its annual program to fulfill the holiday wishes of children in need — with a little help from Nasdaq.

To honor the program’s 104th anniversary, Northeast Area VP Richard Uluski and Consumer Advocate John Budzynski rang the stock exchange’s closing bell Dec. 22.

“The Postal Service is proud to celebrate such a time-honored tradition,” said Budzynski. “Operation Santa has made dreams come true for those in need for more than 100 years.”

Several New York City employees also were present, including Customer Relations Coordinator Pete Fontana, who serves as Operation Santa’s “chief elf” in the Big Apple.

Other participants included four city employees who rank among New York District’s top sales lead generators: Retail Associate Danny Martinez, Letter Carrier Alexander Lee, Letter Carrier Marcelle Sidhom and Letter Carrier Simon McCrory.
