USPS delivers late Christmas wish

Santa Claus letter
Eight-year-old Angela Woody’s letter to Santa Claus

The Postal Service helped Santa Claus with a special delivery in South Carolina last week.

Eight-year-old Angela Woody and her family recently lost most of their possessions when their home near Myrtle Beach caught fire. The girl was so distraught, she wrote to Santa for help.

The Carolina Forest, SC, Post Office received the message and notified St. Nick, who doesn’t usually make deliveries this time of year.

“Being that it’s February, Santa’s sleigh is in the shop. So Santa says, ‘We’re going to use the U.S. Post Office because we deliver to every house, every day,” Carolina Forest Letter Carrier Samantha Gregory told TV station WBTW.

To the surprise of Angela’s family, Gregory and her co-workers brought gifts to Angela and her sister to replace the items they lost in the fire.

“We had no idea,” said Christina Woody, Angela’s grandmother. “We knew she wrote the letters to Santa for Christmas, but we had no idea she wrote another one after the fire.”
