The Willernie, MN, Post Office puts service first — and their customers are feeling the love.

The office’s three employees, including Postmaster Steve Boughan, are receiving praise for providing courteous and knowledgeable service to the town’s 500 residents, who have no mailboxes or door-to-door delivery due to narrow streets.

Everyone has to head to the Post Office to collect their mail and packages.

“We obviously get to know the people in the community that live here,” Boughan told the White Bear Press. “You kind of become like a little family.”

The office, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, has a history of going above and beyond.

In its early days, the office gave out loans and served as a go-between if someone needed a doctor, nurse or housekeeper.

Based on customer feedback, Willernie hasn’t changed much.

“We get numerous comments and compliments from customers that the reason they like coming here [is] that we are pleasant and helpful,” Boughan said.
