A Columbia, MD, girl who dressed as Ruth Bader Ginsburg for her school’s Superhero Day recently received encouraging letters from the Supreme Court justice.

Ginsburg, 83, mailed a handwritten letter after a photo of 8-year-old Michele Threefoot went viral on social media a few weeks ago. The image was initially posted by Michele’s mom, Krista Threefoot.

“You look just like me!” Ginsburg wrote in her note to Michele. “May you continue to thrive on reading and learning. Every good wish.”

The message was written on Supreme Court letterhead. A typed note was also included.

Krista Threefoot said her daughter chose to dress as Ginsburg after reading “I Dissent,” a picture book about the justice. Michele then designed her costume using items around her house.

Michele likes Ginsburg because “she fights prejudice and inequality,” Krista told CBS News.

The girl has since brought copies of Ginsburg’s letters to school, where her classmates have become inspired to reconsider their ideas of modern day superheroes.

Michele is inspiring grown-ups, too.

“What an intelligent child who thinks outside of the box for solutions,” one fan wrote on Facebook. “Little lady, I hope to one day see you as a Supreme Court Justice.”
