Balancing act

Tips offered on juggling work, life

Wellness means taking care of your mind and body, as well as your health in other areas of life.

For many people, balancing work and life is an ongoing struggle.

The Postal Service encourages employees to regularly evaluate their sense of overall wellness, which includes mental and physical, financial, social and career health.

The Wellness team offers these suggestions to find balance in each of these areas:

• Mental and physical. Take time to set physical and mental health goals to work toward. This could be as simple as adding more steps to your day and 5 minutes of daily silence.

• Financial. Summer tends to bring more get-togethers and outings. Think about developing a budget for your summer activities so you don’t end up spending more than you should.

• Social. Balance comes from managing your time at work with the time you share with your family and friends. Set aside time just for your loved ones.

• Career. Your job may be your life, but take time to think of things that you want to achieve at work. Is there a new skill you want to learn? Do you have ideas about improving the Postal Service? If so, find ways to share your suggestions and grow.

The Wellness LiteBlue page has additional tips on achieving work-life balance.
