A new video takes viewers behind the scenes of the recent Snowy Day stamps dedication ceremony.

The stamps are based on “The Snowy Day,” the beloved 1962 children’s book by Ezra Jack Keats (1916-1983). The publication was one of the first picture books to feature an African-American lead character.

“It was groundbreaking,” Government Relations and Public Policy Acting Executive Director Rod Sallay says in the video.

Each stamp showcases a different illustration of Peter, the main character, exploring his snow-covered neighborhood while wearing his iconic red snowsuit.

The 1-minute production also features comments from Brooklyn Public Library President and CEO Linda Johnson and children’s author Andrea Davis Pinkney.
