Last Christmas. Jacob Thompson’s family is making sure he gets what he wants for Christmas this year — holiday cards.
The 9-year-old is battling neuroblastoma, a cancer that attacks nerve cells, and his doctors have given him one month to live. Jacob’s family is using the media to request cards and holiday wishes to help make his last Christmas special.
“Jacob loves the holiday season,” his mother, Michelle Thompson Simard, told WLKY, a local CBS station. “And we want him to know that Christmas wishes come true and that there are good people who care all around the world.”

Virtual fair. Speaking of open season: USPS employees can participate in live online chats with benefits experts Monday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. EST.
Participation is voluntary and off-the-clock. Employees can register at the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program site.
Logo’s run. “CBS Sunday Morning” recently paid tribute to Raymond Loewy, an industrial designer who transformed locomotives, automobiles and household appliances into objects of unparalleled beauty.
