USPS has announced some of its planned stamp releases for 2018.
The Postal Service is raising the curtain on many of its 2018 stamps.
The organization has announced some of its planned releases for next year, including stamps that will immortalize icons such as Lena Horne, John Lennon and Sally Ride.
Other releases will commemorate the song “America the Beautiful,” shine a light on bioluminescent creatures that glow in the dark, showcase the art of magic tricks, celebrate mythological fire-eating dragons and highlight tasty frozen treats.

O Beautiful, featuring images that correspond with “America the Beautiful”
World War I: Turning the Tide, paying tribute to American soldiers and supporters who experienced the 1914-1918 war
Dragons, celebrating the high-flying, fire-breathing mythological creatures
Birds in Winter, celebrating four winged beauties
John Lennon, the newest stamp in the Music Icons series
The Art of Magic, a pane of 20 stamps featuring five classic magic tricks
Byodo-In Temple, a Priority Mail stamp featuring a colorful illustration of a popular tourist attraction in Hawaii
Sleeping Bear Dunes, a Priority Mail Express stamp celebrating a national park in Michigan

Love Flourishes, the latest in the Love stamp series, will feature a garden of colorful flowers surrounding the word “Love.”
The Year of the Dog will be the 11th stamp in the Celebrating Lunar New Year series. The Year of the Dog begins Feb. 16, 2018, and ends Feb. 4, 2019.
Lena Horne, the 41st stamp in the Black Heritage series, will honor the achievements of Horne (1917-2010), a trailblazing performer and civil rights activist.
U.S. Flag will continue the Postal Service’s tradition of honoring the nation’s flag in vivid red, white and blue colors. This design features a flag with two crisp folds.
Bioluminescent Life will be a pane of 20 stamps that feature 10 life-forms that create their own light.
Illinois Statehood, part of the Statehood series, will celebrate the Prairie State’s 200th anniversary. Illinois became the 21st state Dec. 3, 1818.
The Mister Rogers stamp will honor Fred Rogers (1928-2003), host of the groundbreaking public television series “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”
STEM Education will celebrate the role of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Each of the four stamps will feature a collage of faces, symbols, drawings and numbers.
Peace Rose will celebrate one of the most popular roses of all time.
The Sally Ride stamp will honor Ride (1951-2012), the pioneering astronaut, brilliant physicist and dedicated educator who became the nation’s first woman in space.
Flag Act of 1818 will mark the 200th anniversary of the law that established the basic design of the American flag: 13 stripes symbolizing the original 13 colonies and one star for each state in the union.
Frozen Treats will feature frosty, colorful icy pops on a stick.

World War I: Turning the Tide will pay tribute to American soldiers and supporters who experienced the 1914-1918 war.

Birds in Winter will celebrate four winged beauties: the black-capped chickadee, the northern cardinal, the blue jay and the red-bellied woodpecker.
John Lennon, the newest stamp in the Music Icons series, will honor Lennon (1940-1980), the singer, songwriter and rock ’n’ roll hero who was successful as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist.
The Art of Magic, a pane of 20 stamps, will feature digital illustrations of five classic magic tricks: a rabbit in a hat (production), a fortune teller using a crystal ball (prediction), a woman floating in the air (levitation), an empty bird cage (vanishing) and a bird emerging from a flower (transformation).
Byodo-In Temple, a Priority Mail stamp, will feature a colorful illustration of a popular tourist attraction in Hawaii.
Sleeping Bear Dunes, a Priority Mail Express stamp, will celebrate a national park in Michigan that takes its name from a Native American legend.
Meyer Lemons, a 2-cent definitive stamp, will feature a whole Meyer lemon next to two wedges of the cut fruit.
