You’ve probably heard about Meltdown and Spectre, two security flaws in hundreds of millions of computers and mobile devices that could allow hackers to steal passwords and other sensitive information.
The USPS Vulnerability Management and Assessment (VMA) team works to protect postal computer systems against these and other security threats.
The team focuses on two areas:
• Discovering vulnerabilities. The group continuously scans more than 700,000 systems to identify vulnerabilities.
These systems include ACE computers; critical sites, such as data centers; Payment Card Industry systems, such as Post Office Box Online (POBOL); and public-facing computer systems.
• Remediating flaws. The VMA team works with Information Technology and Engineering to conduct remediation campaigns to eradicate these vulnerabilities before they affect your postal computer.
