Western was the area leader in scanning during the week ending July 27, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.85 percent during the week ending July 27, down from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.19 percent) topped the districts, while Western (98.11 percent) led the areas.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

Wildfires update. Several California Post Offices are closed this week due to wildfires. The USPS Service Alerts site has the latest information.

Winged beauties. The Postal Service will release its Birds in Winter stamps Saturday, Sept. 22. The stamps, which feature four striking designs and will be available in booklets of 20, will be dedicated that day in Quechee, VT.
