Flag at half-staff
President Trump has ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff to honor victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Flag notice. President Trump has ordered flags flown at half-staff Tuesday, Sept. 11, to honor victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

USPS facilities are required to fly the U.S. flag at half-staff this day, which is also known as Patriot Day.

To fly the flag at half-staff, hoist the flag to the peak for an instant and then lower it to the half-staff position. The flag should be raised to the peak again before it’s lowered for the day.

For additional information, refer to the Postal Service’s guidelines on U.S. flag display and maintenance.

Storm watch. Hurricane Florence is expected to bring destructive winds, heavy rains and life-threatening storm surges to the Carolinas and Virginia this week.

The USPS Service Alerts site will have updates on the storm and its effect on postal operations.

Stamp coverage. A new Medium post from Greg Breeding, a USPS art director, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Dragons stamps that were released last month.
