Scanning and Columbus Day

Western was the area leader in scanning during the week ending Sept. 28, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.78 percent during the week ending Sept. 28, unchanged from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.16 percent) topped the districts, while Western (97.99 percent) led the areas.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Analytics Tools,” followed by “DES2 Scan Dashboard.”

Holiday operations. The Postal Service is providing general operating policy and planning guidance for the Columbus Day holiday, which will be observed Monday, Oct. 8.

A new memo, available on Blue, explains guidelines for delivery, retail, processing and logistics operations.
