Video spotlights Hanukkah stamp dedication

Highlights from the recent Hanukkah stamp dedication ceremony are featured in a new video.

The Postal Service and Israel Post jointly dedicated the stamp Oct. 16 at the 225-year-old Touro Synagogue in Newport, RI.

“A postage stamp is not only a means of indicating payment for postage. It is a symbol, like a flag, like an emblem. The stamp bears a country’s message in beautiful miniature artwork,” says Elhanan Shapira, an Israel Post official who helped lead the ceremony.

The 1-minute segment also features comments from Judge Gary Shapiro, the Postal Service’s judicial officer, and B. Schlessinger Ross, chair of the Touro Synagogue Foundation.
