The Postal Service has been recognized as one of the nation’s top employers of veterans.
Viqtory, a media company that produces magazines and websites for veterans and service members, included USPS in its 2019 Military Friendly Awards.
The Postal Service received a gold-level fifth-place ranking on Viqtory’s list of the top 10 government agencies and nonprofit organizations that employ veterans.
Last year, USPS ranked seventh. In 2016, the organization received bronze-level status.
The new rankings are included in the December edition of G.I. Jobs, a Viqtory magazine.
The publication lists some postal jobs commonly filled by veterans, including automotive technician, operations manager, transportation supervisor and postal police officer. Atlanta and Jacksonville, FL, are listed as cities where veterans are often hired for postal jobs.
USPS has more than 100,000 veterans in its workforce.
The other employers listed in the government and nonprofit top 10 are Atrium Health, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the Tennessee Valley Authority, Kaiser Permanente, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Northwell Health, Energy Northwest, Baylor Scott and White Health, and Amtrak.
The December edition of G.I. Jobs is available on Viqtory’s site. The lists featuring the Postal Service appear on pages 41 and 152, and a USPS ad appears on page 19.
