USPS releases Backyard Games stamps

The Backyard Games stamps are intended to evoke the nostalgic feeling of childhood play.

The Postal Service will celebrate popular games played by Americans of all ages when it releases its Backyard Games stamps on Aug. 12.

The pane of 16 Forever stamps features eight designs illustrating badminton, bocce, cornhole, croquet, flying disc, horseshoes, tetherball and pick-up baseball.

Each design emphasizes movement and is intended to evoke the nostalgic feeling of playing backyard games as a child.

Mike Ryan designed the stamps with original artwork by illustrator Mick Wiggins, who created the digital illustrations based on the iconography of vintage sporting posters. Greg Breeding served as art director.

The stamps will be available at Post Offices and usps.com.
