SOX deadline

Managers must review access to USPS systems

Under federal law, postal managers must perform periodic reviews of employee and contractor access to applications.

The Postal Service is reminding managers of upcoming deadlines for reviewing employee and contractor access to the organization’s applications and systems.

The periodic reviews are required under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) accounting law.

Managers must perform the reviews using both eAccess and ARIS. The USPS ServiceNow website has instructions for performing both kinds of reviews.

To review employee and contractor access, managers should:

• Verify users are correctly assigned to them, considering both current assignments and official Form 50 role.

• Ensure user access rights to systems and applications are restricted to only what is required to perform their current role.

• To avoid disrupting employees’ and contractors’ productivity, managers should complete quarterly contractor reviews by Aug. 25 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

The twice-yearly employee reviews must completed by Sept. 9 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

Employees and contractors who are not validated by the deadline dates will lose access to the Postal Service’s online resources.

The Corporate Information Security Office will also send a message to all USPS managers reminding them to complete contractor and employee reviews using eAccess and ARIS.
