Additions to the ’23 stamp lineup

U.S. Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, who died in 2020, was a civil rights leader.

The Postal Service has announced seven new stamps for 2023:

John Lewis, a celebration of the life and legacy of the civil rights leader and U.S. representative from Georgia;

Art of the Skateboard, four vibrant skateboard graphics designed by four artists;

Florida Everglades, a Priority Mail stamp illustrating a sawgrass marsh in one of the largest wetlands in the world;

Tomie dePaola, honoring the prolific children’s book author of the popular “Strega Nona” series;

Northern Cardinal, a legal-size envelope stamped with a bright red male of the songbird species;

Bridges, Presorted First-Class Mail stamps featuring photographs of four landmark bridges; and

Life Magnified, 20 stamps with images taken by microscopes and other specialized photographic techniques that capture details of plants and organisms undetectable to the unaided human eye.

All stamps are Forever stamps unless otherwise noted. The Postal Service announced the additional stamps on Dec. 13. The designs are preliminary and subject to change.
