Letter Carrier Dennis O’Toole was delivering mail recently in Buffalo, NY, when he smelled gas at a residence.
O’Toole notified the gas company, which determined there was a leak and repaired it.
Several weeks later, there was a fire at the same location, prompting the homeowner to contact the local Post Office.
“He credited Dennis with saving his family, noting that if the gas leak hadn’t been identified and fixed, the house likely would have been destroyed,” said Buffalo Postmaster Roselle Murrell.
