Milwaukee Letter Carrier Mark Lyman was delivering mail recently when a distraught man approached him and said his girlfriend had just shot herself in the head.
Lyman called 911 and attempted to calm the man. After determining it was safe to do so, Lyman entered the couple’s apartment and found the woman in the bathroom, which was covered in blood.
The woman was alive, so Lyman comforted her and remained with her until police and other emergency responders arrived.
The woman was put on life support but did not survive.
The Milwaukee police and fire departments later thanked Lyman for his bravery.
