Letter Carrier Christopher Paolera was recently delivering mail in a Cambridge, MA, neighborhood when a police officer on duty at a construction site was struck by a dump truck.

Paolera leaped into action and alerted the driver that the officer was pinned beneath a tire.

While the driver freed the injured man, the Postal Service employee asked a bystander to call 911, used the officer’s radio to request assistance and rendered aid until emergency responders arrived.

The man is recovering from the incident.

Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
