Letter Carrier Michelle Binda and an older Postal Service customer in Quincy, MA, had gotten into the habit of speaking to each other often, since the woman would eagerly wait daily for mail to arrive at her apartment complex.
Binda was worried, then, on a recent Monday when she noticed that the woman hadn’t picked up her weekend delivery.
Binda alerted a property manager, who checked on the woman and discovered that she was unable to call for help after collapsing in her unit sometime over the weekend.
The customer was hospitalized for treatment and is recovering at home.
“If Michelle hadn’t taken the time to build such great relationships with her customers, the result could have been much worse,” said local Customer Services Manager John Connolly Jr.
