Retiree rescue

Parsons, KS, Letter Carrier Scott Marlow, left, with customer Arley Journot, a retired letter carrier

Letter Carrier Scott Marlow was recently making deliveries in a Parsons, KS, neighborhood when he spotted an 82-year-old customer, Arley Journot, checking his mail.

Suddenly, Journot, a retired letter carrier, became dizzy and unsteady on his feet.

Marlow rushed to Journot’s side and steadied him, catching him before he collapsed.

The Postal Service employee helped summon family members and emergency responders for the retiree, who required treatment at a hospital.

“Arley and his doctor credit Scott with saving Arley’s life that day,” said Parsons Postmaster Ronald Giefer. “He is very thankful Scott was in the right place at the right time to get the help Arley needed.”
