Salva-tion

Cedarburg, WI, Rural Carrier Anthony Salva

Rural Carrier Anthony Salva was delivering mail one day last spring in Cedarburg, WI, when he grew concerned about an older customer whose mail was piling up unusually.

Salva alerted his supervisor, who asked authorities to check on the man.

A sheriff’s deputy located the customer’s caregiver and they soon found him on the floor of his home, in dire need of medical attention for injuries sustained in a fall.

The man was subsequently hospitalized.

Ozaukee County Sheriff Jim Johnson later presented a certificate, special coin and commendation letter to Salva.

“His notification of the circumstances he observed put into motion the instruments that were critical in the preservation of life,” Johnson wrote.

The ceremony was covered by multiple media outlets in the Milwaukee area.

“You just always care about the people that you service every day,” Salva said.

“That’s just who I am.”
