Two Springfield, IL, letter carriers recently assisted a diabetic customer who had collapsed in her yard. Michael Neely was delivering mail when he found the woman facedown in a flower bed. Unable to help her up on his own, he flagged down William Leigh, a fellow carrier passing by, and they enlisted the help of a neighbor to get the woman to her feet and into her home. She recovered from the incident.
Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
